The Meaning of Labor Day: To honor the contributions that workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of their country. – Wikipedia
As yogis we are here to serve our land to the best of our abilities… and our land doesn’t stop with the boundaries of this country’s borders; it stops when our hearts have closed to the needs of others. This hurts the one who is closing his/her heart.
Therefore, keep making contributions to the strength, prosperity and well-being of your own Self… not selfishly, but selflessly. Then you will benefit…the family will benefit… the community will benefit… the city will benefit… the state will benefit… and ultimately the country will too. But you have to start at home. In the place your heart dwells. Within you!
So this Labor Day, honor your self-development and embrace how far you’ve come. Although there’s more to tread, we can give ourselves a little pat on the back for what we have accomplished thus far.
We are all walking this journey together.
For me, every day is labor day… it’s time to serve! 🙂
