Devotion in Motion: A Yoga Retreat & Vedanta on the Ground Launch
October 24–31, 2026 | Mar de Jade | Chacala, Mexico

Imagine waking up each morning to the sound of the Pacific Ocean, stepping onto your mat as the sun rises over the Mexican jungle, and spending seven days diving deep into your body, your mind and your intellect. This is Devotion in Motion — a one-of-a-kind retreat and the official launch of Vedanta on the Ground, the nonprofit founded by master teachers Rina Jakubowicz and Eric Paskel, dedicated to bringing the timeless wisdom of Vedanta to those on a grounded path of self-discovery.

The Teachers

Rina Jakubowicz is known for her vibrant and uplifting approach for students of all ages, with more than 25 years of teaching yoga in English and Spanish. Her students describe her as genuinely transformational: “I could immediately feel the beauty, light, and warmth that you radiate in your teaching,” wrote one. Another called her teachings a source of ongoing guidance: “Her blend of philosophy and bringing everything back to the Self is what makes her teachings so impactful. I often find myself thinking back to what I learned from her not only when I’m teaching yoga but as I navigate life.”

Eric Paskel is known for his rock ‘n’ roll personality in the normally quiet world of yoga — an international yoga teacher, marriage and family counselor, and motivational speaker. His approach goes far beyond asana. Students describe his understanding of life, purpose, and Yoga — with a capital Y — as exceptional, and note that his vast knowledge of yoga philosophy penetrates every direction he gives, topped off with a leadership quality that not many possess. As one student put it, “Not a day goes by that I don’t incorporate what I learned from you into my actions and thoughts. I can make decisions faster, guide my reactions with more control, and see a clearer path.”

Together, Rina and Eric bring something truly rare. As one past retreat participant described it: “It is challenging to put into words how beneficial a retreat is with them — it’s like many times better than an ordinary vacation when you can work on yourself while being supported.”

The Setting

Tucked between the tropical jungle and a pristine sandy beach, Mar de Jade is a mission-driven, secluded retreat center in Chacala, Mexico — safe, professionally staffed, and beautifully situated right on the Pacific coast. Guests rave about the food: the buffet-style meals are top notch, with fresh options at every meal and nearly always vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free choices available. As one traveler summed it up: Mar de Jade exceeded expectations in every way — a beautiful location, friendly and helpful staff, delicious healthy food, and all of it set against a backdrop of a magic ocean with gorgeous sunsets and the rhythm of the waves.

Your Week

Frequently Asked Questions

What is Vedanta on the Ground? Vedanta on the Ground is a nonprofit organization founded by Rina Jakubowicz and Eric Paskel dedicated to making the ancient philosophy of Vedanta accessible to everyday people. Rooted in the teachings of Swami Parthasarathy, Vedanta offers practical tools for reducing suffering, improving relationships, and living with greater clarity and purpose. This retreat is its official launch — a historic first gathering of the community that will carry this mission forward.

Do I need to be an experienced yogi to attend? Not at all. Rina and Eric are known for teaching to all levels, meeting each student exactly where they are. Whether you’ve been practicing for decades or just found your way to the mat, you’ll feel welcomed, supported, and appropriately challenged.

What does a typical day look like? Your days are beautifully balanced between practice, learning, and rest:

  • 8:30am — Morning Yoga Class
  • 9:45am — Breakfast
  • 10:30am — Free time: pool, beach, excursion, or simply rest
  • 1:00pm — Lunch
  • 2:00pm — More free time or excursion
  • 4:45pm — Vedanta Lecture
  • 6:00pm — Evening Yoga Class
  • 7:15pm — Dinner

What is Mar de Jade like? Mar de Jade is a peaceful, secluded retreat center nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the tropical jungle in Chacala, Mexico — about 90 minutes north of Puerto Vallarta. It’s the kind of place where you genuinely disconnect. There are no high-rise hotels, no vendors on the beach, no noise. Just ocean, jungle, a beautiful pool, jacuzzi, and a community of like-minded people. The food is farm-to-table and widely praised — fresh, healthy, and delicious, with options for vegetarians, vegans, and those eating gluten-free.

Can I actually swim in the ocean? Yes! Chacala’s beach is warm and swimmable. The village of Chacala is a short walk up the beach and has a protected bay that’s ideal for ocean swimming.

What excursions are available? The area offers a range of experiences including whale watching, visits to ancient petroglyphs, jungle hikes, and day trips to nearby Sayulita. The resort staff can help coordinate excursions based on your interests. These would be paid for separately and on your own time.

Is airport transportation included? Yes. Transportation to and from the Puerto Vallarta (PVR) airport is included in your retreat package, so there’s no need to rent a car or arrange your own transfer. There will be times given to arrive around so that scheduling is optimal.

What is the cost and what’s included? The retreat is $4,999 per person based on double occupancy. A single room option is available at a slightly higher rate. Your package includes:

  • 7 nights lodging at Mar de Jade
  • All meals (farm-fresh, buffet-style)
  • Airport transfers
  • Twice-daily yoga classes
  • Daily Vedanta lectures
  • Excursions (selected by Rina and Eric)
  • Pool and jacuzzi access
  • Full beach access

What should I pack? Light, breathable clothing for the Mexican coast in late October — think warm days and comfortable evenings. Bring your yoga clothes, a swimsuit, sunscreen, comfortable walking shoes and water shoes for excursions, and an open heart. A journal is highly recommended for capturing the insights that will inevitably come.

How do I reserve my spot? Spaces are limited and this retreat is a one-of-a-kind launch event. Reach out early — this one will fill up.
